Dual Champion Database
In order for a Vizsla to achieve the coveted AKC title of Dual Champion, they must have completed both of their Conformation (show) and Field Championships. From the AKC's Rules Applying to Dogs Shows, Chapter 16, Section 5, "Any dog that has been awarded the title of Champion of Record may be designated as a 'Dual Champion,' after it has also been awarded the title of Field Champion or Herding Champion. The title of Dual Champion is to recognize those dogs that have shown their superiority in both adhering to the breed standard and their ability to perform the function for which the breed was developed."
First, a little history. This database began more out of curiosity than anything. Back in 1999, thanks to various books and wesbites, I had a list of nearly every Dual Champion since the breeds acceptance into the AKC, but I wanted to know the sire and dam of each of the title holders. So off I go to do a little research in the pedigree database. Once I printed my first draft, I thought I'd like to see the successful owners. That led to also including the breeder and stud owner for each of the dogs, and eventually to include the sex of all of the Dual Champions. The pedigree information on the individual dogs listed below is available to anyone able to access , but this compilation is the end result of many, many hours of hard work and research on my part. You may feel free to link to this page, as it will be kept updated as new Duals are added, express written consent is required for any duplication, in whole or in part, of any information or images contained within this database.I am in the process of expanding the database to include pictures of all of the Duals along with their sires and dams.
